Visiting a New Planet
I feel gravity that I have not felt for two years; it seems far less heavy than the earth, which I have left couple of years ago, but still there it is. My rocket was parked under huge tree-like rock, set lazily under thousands of stars glimmering in the navy blue sky, but I couldn't be sure whether it was really a rock or not. Everything was as different as similar to the earth. As I took off my space suit, I breathed the smell of this little planet. With faint smell of orange, the planet was strangely lively though there seems to be no movement of living things.

Under my feet, silver-colored sand stretched for miles and hundreds of big or small pools that had each color scattered on the sand plain. I dipped my feet in the nearest pool; oval-shaped, about five feet length, smelling pineapple, mingled with light yellow and blue, cool, filled with gelatinous substance that pleasantly permeates into my toes. The substance seemed to be half alive for it moved slightly by itself. Through the translucent pool that reached waist-high, I could see bright-colored shells sunken on the bottom. White lumps that looked like cloud or sheep’s hair squatted down the edge of the pool. I collected the substance, a few shells and a small lump that was easily torn from the white cloud-like thing in my backpack.

Few meters apart from the pool, there was another pool. A pink, ping-pong ball-sized soft grains with that the second pool was filled savored melted sugar. After some grains were packed safely in my bag, I found a school of hopping fish swimming among the beads; I didn’t know what else to call the fishlike creatures. They had polished pink scales and two pair of sharp teeth. I picked a fish at the rear of the fish school and dangled it at the tail of my bag. The fish sounded like a xylophone ring.

As I stepped forward couple of miles, trees appeared more frequently. Most of them had white stems, yellowish leaves and rough bark but there were few all-white and smooth ones. Somehow, trees which had been seen occasionally became a forest. Above my head, they stretched their arms so thickly that piece of the sky couldn’t be seen. When I tried to peel the bark of white tree, a low voice rang like widow’s moan. Heart-shaped leaves fell on my shoulder while a thick branch of the tree moved slowly. Horrified, I ran until I escaped the forest and got to the starting point of the exploration.

My rocket waited for me under the huge rock. It was time to go back but I couldn’t board the rocket. Since few minutes ago, strangely disgusting feeling was reaching my throat. I was so dizzy and suddenly I was vomiting up stinky pink liquid, smelling sweet ironically. A finger-size lizard with six legs crawled out from the filth. It looked back me as if he, or she, bade farewell, and then went away. Still disgusting, I poured out all the things that I had collected and got on the rocket, which I regarded as the only safe place on this terrible planet. I swear, I’ll never leave the earth if I once get home.
